This Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 is the debut of the Joe Santa Maria Trio at Pho CT

The Joe Santa Maria trio is a Los Angeles Jazz ensemble that presents the beautiful melodies of the American songbook as well as adventurous Jazz improvisations and original music.  Drawing from a large well of experience, the ensemble plays music from the records of Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Wayne Shorter among others.  Joe also adds to the songbook numerous original compositions which have been noted for their forward thinking melodies and rhythmic textures.

Joe studied at the Berklee College of music (BFA) and also Calarts (MFA). He has performed with such notable jazz musicians as Tim Hagans, Jason Moran, Ralph Alessi, Hal Crook, Jerry Bergonzi, Charles McPherson, Jimmy Heath, Bob Mintzer, Charlie Haden, and Larry Koonse.
